Footage of a farmer apparently holding a very serious meeting with his goats to 'discuss profit strategy' has become trending on social media.

The farmer, known by his surname Lu, claimed he was telling the animals to have more kids in the unusual 'conference' on Saturday in western China.

Mr Lu was quoted saying: 'I am a goatherd. [My] point was for them to have more [offspring] and to have better income.'

Footage of the gathering, filmed by Mr Lu's daughter and released by China's Pear Video, shows the man sitting behind a table covered with a piece of red cloth.

Mr Lu, from Zhenyuan in Gansu Province, is seen holding a microphone while a loudspeaker is placed on the table.

In front of him in a courtyard stand dozens of black goats, adult and young.

Speaking to Pear, Mr Lu confessed that he had the video taken for fun. He said he wanted to bring more laughter to other people's life.

In the minute-long clip, Mr Lu starts the meeting by instructing his goats to concentrate.

He then tells the animals that he would provide them with enough corn before scolding one particular male goat for 'having too many partners'.

'You need to be more careful. The younger goats have learned from your bad example,' the man is heard telling off the goat before ending the meeting.

Online viewers have been amused by the video.

On China's Twitter-like Weibo, one user thought the meeting was not well organised as 'the goats were bleating and jumping at will'; while another commentator considered Mr Lu 'a good and experienced leader'.
