A teenage Chinese boy snuck into the cargo hold of an Emirates plane in China and flew all the way to Dubai before being apprehended by authorities, the Associated Press reported.

Emirates Airlines said the boy was found in the cargo of Flight EK303 from Shanghai to Dubai on May 27.

"We are cooperating fully with authorities in Dubai and as this is a police matter we are unable to comment further at this time," the airline said in an emailed statement to the AP.

The boy managed to jump over a fence at the Shainghai airport and slip undetected into the cargo hold while a security guard was looking away.

No details were given on the identity or condition of the boy, who has only been identified by his surname, Xu.

China's official Xinhua news agency said Xu made the risky trip because he heard people could earn thousands of yuan annually by begging on the streets of Dubai.
