Customs in Khartoom Airport reportedly foiled an attempt to smuggle over 200 kilos of dead scorpions through Sudan.

A customs spokesman clarified that the shipment was headed to an Asian country with an aim to use their venom to produce medicinal drugs.

The spokesman added that smuggling animals in this manner is a violation of Sudanese law.

Sudanese authorities have been making concerted efforts to preserve the country's resources and to enhance the Sudanese economy.
