A system exempting Jewish ultra-Orthodox seminary students from military service, perceived as unfair by the Jewish society, has just been repelled by Israeli authorities.

An official Israeli committee had laid down a proposal for the government to end a system exempting thousands of ultra-Orthodox Jews from the performing their military service.

During the January elections, the centrist party Yesh Atid had surfed on this wave of resentment to gain popularity and today, an Israeli government committee has agreed to enlist all Jewish nationals.

The only advantage that the ultra-Orthodox will retain concerns the minimum age for enlisting. They will be able to register from age 21 instead of the official 17 year-old limit.
