A Saudi man has been arrested for allegedly killing and cutting off the head of a six-year-old child in Jeddah.

Makkah police spokesman Col. Aati Al-Qurashi said the gruesome crime took place on Monday.

The police had launched a search after an African mother reported her son missing. Detectives eventually found the alleged perpetrator, a 35-year-old citizen, with the head of the young boy, according to a report in a local publication on Tuesday.

In another brutal crime, an expatriate man was arrested for allegedly raping and killing a four-year-old boy.

The incident has seen users on Twitter calling for the harshest punishment if the man is found guilty.

Hamad Al-Khmaly stated that it was a horrible crime condemned by all people, while Mohammad Al-Sharief tweeted “look after your children.”

A Yemeni man in this thirties, apparently known to the boy’s family, has been arrested in connection with the killing, said Al-Qurashi.
