Statistics from Google's monthly reports showed that the frequency of searches in Morocco related to sex and pornography increased sharply at about 8 pm on Tuesday, around the time Eid al-Fitr was officially announced in Morocco, al-Quds al-Arabi reported.
The numbers show that the amount of searches kept steadily rising throughout the night, peaking around 4 am, when the traffic dropped off. The searches resumed the next day around midday.
Presumably, the break around 4 am allowed for a brief pause for people to eat, pray, or sleep.
The statistics also showed that more people were visiting Arab and Moroccan-based pornography websites, rather than Western websites.
The numbers immediately available on the Alexa website, the Amazon-owned site designed to track web stats and web rankings, showed that Moroccans were interested in two websites out of 100 different Western porn sites. The first occupied the no. 50 spot on the list, while the second came in at no. 95.
