Emirates sentences 17 people after massive brawl with kalashnikovs, swords

The Khor Fakkan Criminal Court has awarded 15-year jail term to 17 people including Emiratis for involving in a group fight using guns, knives and swords. Non-Emiratis among the convicts will be deported after the prison term. The court also jailed two others, who were not involved in the fight, for six months for possessing firearms.

According to court records, two groups of youths fought each other in Khor Fakkan due to personal rivalry in the beginning of the year, causing permanent disabilities for two and minor injuries to the rest. One of the youths shot three times at an opponent while another one's ear was chopped off.

The groups of youths, aged between 18 and 28, assaulted each other using Kalashnikovs, swords and knives, said the prosecution. The injured were rushed to Kalba hospital by police ambulance.
