Israeli police attempting to find evidence related to an attack on a mosque in the West Bank were mobbed by approximately 100 residents of the Yitzhar settlement, AFP reports.

“Our forces were attacked by about 100 residents, some of whom threw stones,” said police spokeswoman Luba Samri.

Vandalism, usually in the form of racist graffiti, on Palestinian homes and mosques has become more frequent in recent months, prompting the U.S. to include the attacks in a recent terrorism report. Israeli authorities are seeing increasing pressure to investigate these “price tag” attacks that damage Palestinian property.

Police were attacked while investigating a couple who are suspected of involvement in an attack on a mosque in Umm al Fahm a few weeks prior, according to AFP.
