ALBAWABA - Amazon Web Services (AWS) recently confirmed that its services in the UAE are experiencing power and connectivity issues due to the Iranian strikes on several parts of the country, including residential areas, ports, and airports.
As conflict in the Gulf escalates due to US-Israel tensions with Iran, AWS reported that a data center in the UAE was affected by the ongoing attacks on Monday, as reported by PC Mag UK.
UAE's Amazon AWS data center catches fire, linked to Iranian strikes
AWS said in a statement, "At around 4:30 AM PST, one of our Availability Zones (mec1-az2) was impacted by objects that struck the data center, creating sparks and fire."
The company added, "The fire department shut off power to the facility and generators as they worked to put out the fire. We are still awaiting permission to turn the power back on, and once we have, we will ensure we restore power and connectivity safely."
While Amazon Web Services linked the issue to the ongoing Iranian strikes in the Middle East, the company didn't confirm or deny that the attacks were responsible for the outages.
AWS also confirmed that it faced some power issues in one of its local zones in Bahrain, as reported by The Star.
