Saudi Development Fund to finance power station in Aleppo

(MEBG) – The Saudi Development Fund has agreed to finance a Syrian power station project in Aleppo to the value of $77.5 million. Commenting on the arrangement, the Syrian energy minister said that the project that will raise the capacity of the thermal electricity station to 1065 megawatts, making it the largest power station in the country. 

 

Actual work on the project will be undertaken by a foreign company, though the Syrian authorities will be responsible for operations, investment and maintenance. 

 

According to the director of the Saudi Development Fund, total investment in the Syrian power station will reach $520 million, thus making it one of the largest and most significant projects of its type in the Middle East.
