ALBAWABA - An Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson said on Thursday that a U.S. PrSM missile strike on a sports hall left at least 21 civilians killed, including teenagers.
According to the ministry's spokesperson, the attack took place in Lamerd city, southern Iran.
However, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) refuted reports that American forces struck civilian sites in the southern city of Lamerd, saying the allegations were "false".
"U.S. forces did not launch any strikes at any time into the city of Lamerd or anywhere within 30 miles (48 kilometers) during the opening day of Operation Epic Fury," spokesperson Capt. Tim Hawkins detailed.
On the other hand, the U.S. rejection of claims follows a report by The New York Times citing visual evidence and weapons experts who revealed that a U.S. PrSM struck a sports hall and nearby school on Feb. 28, killing at least 21 people.

What is the PrSM missile?
The Precision Strike Missile (PrSM) is a next-generation surface-to-surface missile developed for the U.S. Army to replace the older Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS).
PrSM is a long-range, precision-guided missile designed to hit targets deep behind enemy lines with high accuracy. The original range of the missile is around 500 km, but new versions are expected to exceed 700 km.
