UK-based manufacturer Quartz, was selected by Modern Media Systems, the Saudi contracting agents for the Ministry of Information's Riyadh Television Station, to provide the routing infrastructure for a major digital upgrade.
The Riyadh TV station's MCR is being upgraded with a Quartz Q256 Serial video router with embedded audio to route digital signals for two news studios, a TV theatre plus several production studios, two continuities and nine non-linear edit suites. The router will handle satellite feeds and fiber channels as well as the customary VTRs, video servers and monitoring feeds.
The system includes redundant controllers and power supplies and Quartz also provided a number of smaller monitoring and data routers as part of the package. Both News studios are being equipped with Quartz Q32 serial digital video routers.
The contract to supply was won through UK technology integration services company, EML-TL Ltd., based in Andover, who were hired by MMS to design and manage the Riyadh TV Centre's entire upgrade and conversion to digital television.
Quartz is a provider of routers and master control switchers with a product portfolio that includes a wide variety of routers, sizes, panels and signal formats, including HDTV. — (menareport.com)
