Abdulhameed Al-Masoud, director of student activities at the Ministry of Education, has announced that six new mini-traffic cities will be established in ministry offices throughout the Kingdom. The aim is to train students and young people in proper driving habits and practices.

At the ceremony honoring 135 winners in the Mawaheb Competition and the supervisors of the traffic safety backpack program, Al-Masoud said traffic safety programs were essential.

He said Saudi Aramco led the way with its numerous initiatives, strategic partnerships, and various programs, including the traffic safety program which has achieved significant milestones in training and rehabilitation at all stages.

The undersecretary of the Eastern Province, Dr. Khaled Al-Batal, who was also at the ceremony, said the traffic safety programs would begin at a young age, noting that the EP Gov. Prince Saud bin Naif is keen on seeing the Eastern Province rank last in terms of traffic accidents.

According to Sultan Al-Zahrani, general secretary of the Traffic Safety Committee in the Eastern Province, the EP governor has made unprecedented advancements in traffic safety training and awareness in order to protect lives and property. The prince is an avid supporter of programs that aim to improve driving skills and practices among youth.

He said cooperation was fruitful and ongoing with the Ministry of Education and education departments in the Kingdom in order to implement the school backpack program and the traffic safety-related Mawaheb competition.
