Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s initiative, Tejar Dubai, hosted a workshop educating upcoming national entrepreneurs about the various aspects of recruiting workforce and the correct application of UAE labour law besides focusing on how to optimise your profile on LinkedIn, at the Chamber premises recently.

With its emphasis on human resources, the workshop dealt extensively with the right ways to interaction and communication with business partners, government officials and employees while raising awareness of prevailing labour laws in the country.

The workshop also educated the Tejar Dubai participants about creating a social media account for strategic manpower planning and recruitment, skills required to ask relevant questions while hiring staff, preparing labour contracts, management salaries and benefits for professional staff as well as the technical ways to deal with labour disputes and other related HR issues.

In his welcome speech, Essa Ali Al Zaabi, Senior Vice-President, Institutional Support Sector, Dubai Chamber and General Coordinator of Tejar Dubai, stated that the entrepreneurship development programme continues with its interesting majlis and workshops. This time, the focus was on the management of human resources which is an integral part of a successful business’s planning which ultimately leads to a strong legal foundation for the new business.

Al Zaabi further stressed that the workshop is part of the entrepreneurship development programme which allows aspiring entrepreneurs to turn their ideas into a successful business project. So far, since the launch of the programme more than 10 workshops and a number of business majlis were organised where established businessmen shared their experiences and success stories with the participants, he said.

“It gives us great pleasure to announce that the first project under Tejar Dubai has been inaugurated this month which is a nursery and an early education centre by an Emirati female participant and there are about 10 other projects waiting to be launched,’’ said Al Zaabi.

The General Coordinator of Tejar Dubai informed the participants that in light of their being at the beginning of a new phase of an enterprising professional life, the entrepreneurship development program will guide them to the next stage of their career while carving out a strong business future for them.

The Tejar Dubai initiative which was launched by Dubai Chamber last year is the first in the UAE to offer a specialised programme and platform for youth to help them establish their own small-to-medium-sized businesses.

With its commitment to the directives of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, which emphasises that entrepreneurship is the shortest route to a bright future, the training programme aims to find and train creative and commercially-minded youth to help them turn their business ideas into a reality.

Not only does the initiative provide youth with access to an extensive development programme, including classroom learning, on-site training, mentoring and business advice, but candidates also get networking opportunities with local and international business leaders and access to investment capital.
