Tamkeen and Kempinski Hotel sign agreement to train employees

Tamkeen announces that it signed an agreement with the Kempinski hotel to benefit from the Career Progression Programme, which is offered by Tamkeen to enhance the skills of Bahrainis and make them the employees of choice in the private sector.
The agreement will equip Bahraini employees with specialised skills through training to meet the growing demands of the Kingdom’s hospitality and tourism sector. The employees belong to different backgrounds and have job responsibilities, which include concierge, sales and marketing, catering, housekeeping, as well as finance and administration.
Tamkeen’s Acting Human Capital Development Vice President, Ms. Amal AlKooheji, commented: “The hospitality and tourism sector in Bahrain is the fastest growing sector in Bahrain. Therefore it is absolutely critical that sufficient and capable local talent is available to cope with this growth. The signing of this agreement with the Kempinski hotel under the Career Progression Programme will not only enhance the productivity and efficiency of the local Kempinski talent, but will also play a role in enhancing the sector as a whole.”
This training is designed based on detailed studies conducted by a dedicated Tamkeen team in cooperation with the beneficiary enterprises to identify skill gaps among their Bahraini employees.
Mr. Puneet Singh, General Manager, Kempinski Grand & Ixir Hotel in Bahrain, also commented on the announcement: “We are delighted to be joining forces with Tamkeen. At Kempinski we are committed to attracting, supporting and developing our Bahraini talent in the workforce. We employ a number of gifted Bahrainis and are keen to help them in their career progression in the hospitality field, be on the operative side or administrative. As Europe’s oldest hospitality group we can offer our expertise, guidance and in-depth training to provide opportunities for further progress both within our Bahrain property, as well as globally”.
In addition to training, Tamkeen also subsidises the basic salaries of the beneficiary employees. The subsidy amount ranges between BD50 and BD100 for a maximum of two years.
Launched in 2007, the Career Progression Programme has to date served more than 12,000 Bahrainis in more than 500 enterprises across all sectors and industries.
