For the second consecutive year, as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs, PepsiCo-Jordan has renewed its partnership with Tkiyet Um Ali (TUA), pledging to support TUA’s efforts to alleviate hunger among the 18,300 underprivileged families it serves during this year’s holy month. The agreement was signed by PepsiCo-Jordan General Manager, Eng. Nidal Hamam, and TUA Director General, Samer Balkar, at the Company’s headquarters.

PepsiCo-Jordan will provide around 1,500 fasters with Iftar meals, Pepsi products as well as its pure drinking water during a charity Iftar held at TUA’s headquarters in Al-Mahatta area. The Company also will donate the value of enough food parcels to cover the needs of 10 underprivileged families for one year, in addition to six families from across the Kingdom during Ramadan. Moreover, PepsiCo-Jordan will distribute 80,000 mineral water bottles and 80,000 cans of soft drinks within and outside TUA throughout the holy month.

“This agreement corresponds with our keen interest in taking part in various humanitarian and charitable activities, as well as building partnerships with national institutions that support local communities. Renewing our agreement with Tkiyet Um Ali underscores our dedicated efforts and commitment to foster this fruitful collaboration, stemming from our belief in the Organization’s vision of a hunger-free Jordan, especially as we draw inspiration from Ramadan’s spirit of solidarity and compassion,” commented Eng. Hamam.

In turn, Balkar thanked the Company for its generous initiative and its belief in TUA’s vision of a hunger-free Jordan, stating, “I would like to thank PepsiCo-Jordan for its support of Tkiyet Um Ali for the second consecutive year. We look forward to further cooperation in the years to come as we continue to serve the 18,300 beneficiary families living below the food poverty line.”

Background Information

Pepsi Cola International

In 1965, Donald Kendall, the CEO of Pepsi-Cola, and Herman Lay, the CEO of Frito-Lay, recognized what they called “a marriage made in heaven,” a single company delivering perfectly-salty snacks served alongside the best cola on earth. Their vision led to what quickly became one of the world's leading food and beverage companies: PepsiCo.

For more than 50 years, as tastes, trends and lifestyles have changed, PepsiCo has evolved with them. Our willingness to adapt and grow has transformed our snack and soda company into a collection of global brands including Pepsi and Quaker, Gatorade and Tropicana, Frito-Lay and beyond. Today, PepsiCo is one of the world’s most-respected companies with products sold in more than 200 countries and territories and 22 brands that generate more than $1 billion each in estimated annual retail sales.
