Innovation and Information Centre opened to support Bahraini Craftsmen

His Excellency Shaikh Mohammed bin Essa Al Khalifa, Tamkeen’s Chairman and Acting Chief Executive, opened the Innovation and Information Centre at Al Jasrah Training Centre. Shaikha Hind Bint Salman Al Khalifa, President of the International Federation of Professional and Business Women, and a number of guests and media representatives, attended the opening ceremony, during which Mosaic Bahrain, a Bahraini arts sector application, was also launched by Dr. Ali Follad, the developer and handicraft's adviser at the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.
The Innovation and Information Centre is one of the services offered to Bahraini Craftsmen and women at Al Jasrah Training Centre, and serves as a source of information for entrepreneurship, leadership, management, etc. through a number of relevant books and learning resources.
As for Mosaic Bahrain, it is the first application of its kind in Bahrain and the region, featuring information and pictures about Bahrain's unique handicraft industry, such as traditional pottery, textiles, jewellery, metalwork, dhow building, and other crafts that helped shape the Kingdom's culture during the past years. The application seeks to support and develop projects by Bahraini artisans and help them become future entrepreneurs.
His Excellency Shaikh Mohammed bin Essa Al Khalifa commented: "Tamkeen supports Bahraini projects that come up with new and innovative ideas like the Mosaic Bahrain application , which promotes the handicrafts sector and combines Bahrain's crafts and the latest ICT trends, in addition to the the Innovative and Information Centre."
For his part, Dr. Ali Follad said: "Mosaic Bahrain was developed to support and highlight the Bahraini Handicraft Sector at the Bahraini International Federation of Professional and Business Women. The Application will serve as a source of valuable information encourage craftsmen and women to develop their skills and take them to the next stage."
