HMC to hold community event at Aspire Park as part of World Kidney Day activities

International World Kidney Day
Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) Nephrology Department, in collaboration with the Corporate Communications Department, is organizing a series of events this week to mark international World Kidney Day on 10 March, 2016.
The activities will run throughout this week and include educational events to raise awareness of kidney health issues and how to prevent kidney disease.
On Friday 11 March, HMC will hold a family community day at Aspire Park. “The global theme for 2016 is ‘Kidney Disease and Children’ and for this reason we will place special focus on raising awareness of kidney issues related to children,” explained Mr. Ali Abdulla Al Khater, Chief Communications Officer at HMC’s Corporate Communications Department.
“Kidney disease affects a large number of people around the world and also in Qatar. Kidney disease can affect people of any age, gender and race. As the main provider of specialized healthcare services in Qatar, HMC has an important role to play in looking after the health of Qatar’s population. This year’s World Kidney Day activities demonstrate HMC’s commitment to promoting health in the community,” noted Dr. Hassan Al Malki, Head of Nephrology at HMC.
The community day will feature educational activities for all the family. Members of the nephrology team will be on hand to educate the public about the signs and symptoms of kidney disease, advise how to maintain good kidney health and also carry out screening checks.
“The community day has been planned to ensure people have fun while also increasing their knowledge of kidney health. In line with this year’s global theme, there will be a range of fun activities for children, including bouncy castles, face painting and races. Please come along to support this important event and bring your family and friends to what is sure to be a great day out for all.” said Mr. Al Khater.
