DUBAL hosts 13th Family Day at Jebel Ali site

Employees of Dubai Aluminium, DUBAL, together with their spouses and children, gathered at the company’s smelter complex in Jebel Ali on Friday 16 November 2012 for a fun-filled Family Day. Held within DUBAL’s 480-hectare site, the event drew more than 9,000 people across the age spectrum, all of whom were delighted by the range of entertainment and refreshments on offer.

There was something for everyone to enjoy – including a rodeo bull, slides, adventure river, football shoot-out, mini-golf, gaming stalls, henna-painting and hair-braiding, face-painting, camel and pony rides, drumming and a fireworks display. Catering for every interest while captivating the imagination, a variety of artistes performed – including jugglers, puppeteers, clowns, a magician/illusionist, and dancers.  Lots of food and drink was also available, ranging from cold drinks and snacks to a buffet dinner.

Sultan Al Sabri (Vice President: Human Resources & Organisation Effectiveness) says that the tradition of holding a Family Day at DUBAL began in 1984; and that this year’s event was the 13^th held over the 28-year period. “On each occasion, the main aim of the Family Day has been to build stronger bonds between employees, their families and the company — and this year is no different,” Al Sabri explains. “Indeed, we use our Family Days to pay tribute to the individuals on our workforce who spend their working hours helping to maintain our company’s status as a leading, stable and robust enterprise. Through their continued dedication to duty, loyalty to the company and untiring efforts, DUBAL can proudly claim to own and operate one of the largest single-site primary aluminium smelters in the world.”

Al Sabri also expresses DUBAL’s gratitude to employees’ family members, saying, “Your unconditional and loving support enables our employees to invest many hours and much energy in DUBAL. We hope that, through the Family Day, everyone will gain a better understanding of DUBAL, and provide greater support for our employees in the future.”
