The event kicked off today (Tuesday, September 26, 2017) and will run until September 28 with the participation of local, regional, and international port authorities and operators. DMCA will share its experiences in enhancing Dubai’s international competitiveness to make it one of the best maritime capitals in the world for 2017 during the global industry gathering.

Amer Ali, Executive Director of DMCA, said: “The Port Development MENA Conference is a unique addition to the important maritime events being hosted by Dubai and serves as an ideal venue to discuss the MENA region’s newest port projects and expansions. The conference will focus on expanding infrastructure, upgrading terminal operating systems and investing in cyber security and smart solutions. It will also showcase the best practices for securing, constructing and operating port infrastructure.”

Ali added: “The conference comes at a time when Middle Eastern ports have been witnessing enormous growth, which has led to tighter competition among port operators. As the government authority charged with regulating, coordinating, and supervising all aspects of Dubai’s maritime sector, we at DMCA are proud to share our achievements and successful experience in promoting the competitiveness, inclusiveness and efficiency of the local maritime sector by implementing advanced legislative systems and infrastructure for enhancing Dubai’s position as one of the best maritime clusters in the world.”

Ali concluded: “We are pleased to join the elite leaders of the marine industry to highlight the lessons learned from the success of Dubai and the UAE in establishing new standards of excellence in the development of first-class ports. We will emphasize the pivotal role of ports in driving the growth of the maritime sector regionally and internationally. We will discuss how ambitious port projects and quality initiatives supported by investments in innovation and technology provide solid foundations for the development of maritime communities in accordance with the requirements of the 21st century.”

The Port Development MENA Conference will provide delegates with an exclusive hands-on look at Jebel Ali, one of the world’s largest container ports being operated by DP World. The port tour will cover Container Terminals 1 and 2.

The conference agenda will feature overviews of key projects and discuss winning strategies for port and terminal optimization. It will also revolve around port automation, digitization, and security.
