Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director of Dubai Customs, received Saed Al Awadi, CEO of Dubai Export Development Corporation (DEDC). They discussed the prospects of bilateral cooperation towards advancing Dubai’s foreign trade, particularly in exports. Both authorities will focus their joint efforts towards leveraging Dubai’s competitiveness in global markets through enhancing local economic growth.

It was agreed to bolster coordination channels between Dubai Customs and Dubai Exports to facilitate mutual flow of information on various changes affecting the Emirate’s foreign trade; thus ensuring the provision of the most up-to-date data about Dubai’s growing domestic economy and external commerce to all business circles around the globe. They also deliberated on Dubai Customs’ potential to take part in exhibitions held by Dubai Exports abroad so as to better inform visitors about the advanced Customs services and facilitations DC is providing.

Ahmed Mahboob said that “DC is very keen on furthering collaboration and coordination with all government entities within the Emirate – especially those concerned with developing foreign trade – in an effort to boost Dubai’s economy. Given the mounting growth in Dubai’s foreign trade which went up to Dh1.329 trillion in 2013; it has become imperative for us to better introduce business circles and decision-makers all over the world to the incomparable opportunities catered by Dubai for multilateral trade development, as well as to showcase the great value of its domestic products that are now more capable of competing in global markets.”

On his part, Saed Al Awadi stated, “We at Dubai Exports are in constant communication with all local entities, seeking to bridge means of cooperation for the common good of all exporters. Not to mention the immense importance of information exchange and commercial promotion which are the medial points to be addressed and further nurtured with Dubai Customs. These matters formulate the cornerstone for exports development and international expansion of local Emirati companies and industries.”
