Dubai Customs celebrates International Women’s Day

Sultan bin Sulayem, DP World Group Chairman & CEO and Chairman of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation congratulated UAE women on the International Women’s Day which is celebrated worldwide today, 8 March.

“The UAE women played a substantial role in the advancement of our country. They made a huge progress overcoming many challenges” he said.

Bin Sulayem said that the developments occurred in the lives of Emirati women are the fruit of the efforts of the founding father of the nation, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who called for the empowerment of women, if they were to have a major role in society and participate in the nation’s ambitious developments.

“The outstanding progress of Emirati women was supported by the Leader of Women’s Work, the Mother of the UAE, H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, who values Emirati women as important human capital in society. The achievements accomplished in women’s empowerment reflected the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who supports women’s political empowerment” he added.

On his part, Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director of Dubai Customs congratulated women staff at Dubai Customs on the Day and praised their noticeable efforts and successes which served Dubai Customs’ vision in the best possible way under the UAE’s wise leadership.

“UAE women has become a symbol of distinction worldwide, with many of them assuming important roles in society like ministers, members of parliament and ambassadors” he added.

On the occasion, Dubai Customs Women’s Committee organized a number of awareness and entertainment functions.
