The Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), the Emirate’s dedicated Authority for culture, arts, and heritage, is calling on doctors, nurses, and professionals from the healthcare sector to contribute to the second phase of crowdsourcing for Al Maktoum Hospital Museum, a first-of-its-kind tribute to one of Dubai’s oldest hospitals.

Creating a new museology for Dubai, the crowdsourcing initiative is central to chronicling the historic significance of the hospital and the role it has played in driving the growth of the Emirate’s medical sector.

As part of the second phase, Dubai Culture is inviting professionals from the medical sector, including pharmacies, ambulances, and laboratories, as well as Dubai residents to share their experiences, memories and anecdotes  of Al Maktoum Hospital, which will be part of the creation of the museum. Experiences can span from the origin of the hospital to its evolution alongside Dubai’s development.

Saeed Al Nabouda, Acting Director General, Dubai Culture & Arts Authority, said: “The response to the first phase of our unique crowdsourcing initiative has been overwhelming, and we extend our gratitude to all the participants. They have indeed made invaluable contributions to chronicling the history of Al Maktoum Hospital, one of the oldest institutions in Dubai – and still the cornerstone of the city’s healthcare sector.

“It is our responsibility as citizens of this community to commemorate this national treasure.

With the hospital gaining significant interest from local and international audiences, we hope that residents of Dubai will join us in chronicling the milestones associated with the hospital, and provide future generations a glimpse of the city’s history.”

Residents can email: museums@dubaiculture.ae, or use Dubai Culture’s social media platforms hashtag #AlMaktoumHospitalStories to share their experiences.

Dubai Culture will continue to lead the crowdsourcing initiative in various phases, giving people across the country the opportunity to share their insights for the ‘Al Maktoum Hospital Museum.’

‘Al Maktoum Hospital Museum’ is a demonstration of Dubai Culture’s vision to integrate members of the community into the grassroots growth story of its artistic and cultural scene.
