Dubai Chamber all set to host “Tejar Dubai” Idea Olympics
As initiators of “Tejar Dubai” an Emirati entrepreneur development program, Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry is all set to host the Tejar Dubai Idea Olympics workshop at its premises on Saturday, November 23.
The objective of the initiative is to help budding entrepreneurs to turn their ideas into reality and to join the program.
Organised under Smart Mobile Services theme which focuses on developing business ideas that enhance customer experiencethrough accessibility, usability, and speed in the mobile technology sector, this workshop will be followed by theTourism and Design workshops which will allow candidates to put forth their unique business ideas and to gain entry into the Tejar Dubai program.
The Idea Olympics initiative focuses on university and business school students, employees of government departments and young nationals to hone their creative business ideas as the Olympics will be held on three different days dedicated to a theme when the participants will get the opportunity to put their ideas in front of the panel of judges who will choose the best candidates for the Tejar Dubai program which trains them to make their mark in the business world.
The participants ofIdea Olympics benefit through the opportunity to network with business leaders, get individual mentorship and acquire skills to shape and nurture creative business ideas and models.
Dubai Chamber recently organised a meeting of the six finalists with the judging panel of the program for the first time where the participants presented their ideas to be selected for the second stage of the program which aims at honing their talent and providing them the necessary skills and expertise to implement their ideas successfully.
H.E. Hisham Al Shirawi, Chairman of the Selection Committee and head of the expert committee of Tejar Dubai judging panel, lauded the role of Dubai Chamber in launching the Idea Olympics which he said will generate a lot of interest amongst young Emirati entrepreneurs while encouraging them to achieve their dreams to enter the world of business as well as to benefit from the wisdom of the senior business leaders from Dubai’s trading community.
H.E. Al Shirawi highlighted the judging criteria for the panel which he said are to select promising business ideas which are economically feasible and able to withstand the tests of the marketplace while also fostering nascent entrepreneurs amongst UAE nationals.
On his part, Mr. Essa Ali Al Zaabi, General Coordinator of Tejar Dubai, informed that the Idea Olympics is seen as a fast-track entry to the Tejar Dubai program as the committee received 90 enquiries for participation while 51 meetings were held with youngsters who submitted their business ideas.
Mr. Al Zaabi further added that 21 people qualified out of which six were selected to meet the judging panel who chose five candidates for the next phase of the program which focuses on individual development training including on-the-job assignment providing them the necessary work skill and experience.
He also said that the Idea Olympics’ aim isalso to allowuniversity students to develop new business ideas in the areasof smart mobile services, tourism and design which are some of the key sectors offering excellent investment opportunities and growth potential for young Emiratis.
Tejar Dubai, which is organised under the patronage and support of H.H. Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, is the first entrepreneurs development programin the UAE which seeks to find and train creative and commercially-minded youth and to offer them specialised programme and platform to enter the world of business by helping them establish their own small-to-medium-sized enterprises.
