Community Development Authority forms a team to assess insurance provided for people with disability
The Community Development Authority (CDA) announced the setting up of a Health Insurance Team to support persons with disabilities whose families are working in the public sector in Dubai and whose health insurance is covered by Enaya.
The initiative, which is in cooperation with Government Health Insurance Department of Dubai Health Authority (DHA), is part of CDA’s constant efforts to integrate all individuals into society by offering an excellent network of services.
The initial stage of the project involves distributing an e-questionnaire to all the targeted categories working at different government entities in Dubai to determine the key challenges faced by them. The results will be discussed with the Government Health Insurance Department at DHA in an attempt to place a strategy in place to insure including all the health services that are currently not covered for persons with disabilities by the available insurance schemes.
“This is a path-breaking initiative in line with directives by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to support persons with disabilities, who are key elements in the society through several initiatives,” H.E Khaled Al Kamda, Director General of the CDA said.
His Excellency noted that through this initiative, CDA is looking forward to ease the financial burden of their families by covering their health and medical services.
H.E. Al Kamda affirmed this initiative enhances the implementation of the law 24/2006 issued by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, to protect the rights of persons with special needs. He noted the law, which was the first in the country in this regard, provides this category with comprehensive care, equal rights in the area of education, healthcare, training and qualifying.
The initiative aims to help employees of the public sector in Dubai, whose insurance health cards do not cover all the therapeutic services required by their children with disabilities.
