Burgan Bank Holds Successful Beach Cleanup Drive 2020

Playing its role in ensuring a sustainable future, Burgan Bank recently organized a beach clean-up drive under the theme “Driven by you. Motivated by Sustainability” at the Al-Salam beach in Shuwaikh in collaboration with ‘Mw6iny’ and under the support of en.v,, Green Hands environmental team and Kuwait Dive Team.
Advocating for the conservation and restoration of Kuwait’s marine environment, Burgan Bank top management, staff and their kids including other volunteers participated in this initiative.
The support of the event falls within the framework of its ongoing partnerships and projects to empower the communities to take positive steps towards safeguarding Kuwait’s natural resources.
Driven by the belief that efforts to preserve the country’s ecosystem ensure the longevity of cultural heritage for future generations, the event also helped to raise awareness of the health dangers of pollutants, plastic waste and hazardous substances if neglected.
Manager of External Affairs at Burgan Bank, Ms. Hessa Al-Najadah Said: “This Initiative falls under the bank’s strategic focus on sustainability for 2020 and under our ongoing corporate social responsibility towards the environment.
We are keen to spread awareness among members of society on the importance of maintaining a sustainable environment for all. It is also a national duty towards our country Kuwait, and through this initiative we would like to send a message to all the beach visitors to preserve it from pollution as a result of leaving waste.
The participation of employees and their children aims to instill the values of environmental protection in our children. Burgan Bank will continue to support many initiatives and activities related the environmental aspect ".
The beach clean-up was supported by en.v, an organization dedicated to fostering social development and civic engagement. Burgan Bank together with en.v through its strategic partnership, have conducted a number of programs through workshops and open dialogues to solve pressing challenges.
Burgan bank’s employees underwent an awareness workshop on ‘Sustainable Behavior and its Impact on the Environment’ by Ms. Latifa Al-Wazzan, Founder of MW6INY, wherein volunteers received useful instructions. It is worth mentioning that the “MW6INY” Voluntary Team run activities targeting the betterment of the environment in Kuwait.
Green Hands Environmental Team also participated and supported Burgan Bank Beach Cleanup drive, under the leadership of Dr. Samiaa Al-Saidaan (CEO of Green Hands Environmental Team). “Green Hands” is a nonprofit organization, aiming to serve community in the best possible ways.
The Bank's support of this initiative falls under its dynamic full-fledged community program entitled ‘ENGAGE’ – Together to be the change. This program sheds light on important aspects affecting every segment of the society by promoting social welfare through educational, cultural and health driven initiatives.
