Setting an example for environmental stewardship and sustainable practices, 20 volunteers from Bank Nizwa’s Masoliyati Program organized a beach clean-up in Azaiba to protect one of the capital’s popular coastal leisure and sports destinations. A true reflection of the program’s renewed commitment to environmental conservation and anti-pollution, the initiative highlighted the importance of the marine ecosystem, the dangers it faces and the actions people can take to safeguard it.

Dr. Ashraf Nabhan Al Nabhani, General Manager Corporate Support, lauded the volunteer spirit in the Bank Nizwa staff and said, “The solidarity, dedication and proactivity of our team is a small example of their tireless efforts to support and give back to society.

He added, “It is inspiring to see our staff alongside their families and friends take the initiative in highlighting the importance of environmental protection. More importantly, I would like to thank each and every one of the participants for acting upon this cause and hope their efforts will encourage further community engagement to ensure the natural habitat of Oman is preserved for future generations.”

The Masoliyati program revolves around the theme of ‘Responsibility’ and includes four pillars. First is economic responsibility, which focuses on contributions to the national economy through day-to-day operations in a Shari’a-compliant manner. The second pillar is human resources’ responsibility related to offering job opportunities and nurturing local talent. The third is social responsibility that supports educational and youth empowerment initiatives. The fourth pillar is environmental responsibility, which fosters environmental stewardship and raises awareness about sustainable practices.

To date, volunteers in the Masoliyati program has successfully conducted several volunteer projects including Iftar Sa’em outreach programs during the month of Ramadan, beach clean-ups to preserve and protect Oman’s maritime environment in addition to blood donation drives.
