Lexus International has recently announced the 12 finalists for the Lexus Design Award 2016. First launched in 2013 to foster the growth of ideas that can contribute to society, this international design competition aims to support young up-and-coming creators from around the world. It also provides a unique opportunity for four finalists to work with a globally recognized designer as a mentor to create prototypes of their designs.

The fourth annual staging of the Lexus Design Award drew 1,232 entries from 73 countries under the theme of “Anticipation.” This year, entrants impressed the judges, a panel of world-renowned designers and creators.

While commenting on this global event, Sales and Marketing Director and Deputy General Manager at Al-Markazia Nadim Haddad said, “The Lexus Design Award is an attractive showcase for talented designers from across the globe and gives them a great platform to showcase their inventiveness and creativity in design. Jordan had a very special participation in this contest especially through the Canadian Jordanian architectural artist Abeer Seikaly, who won the award for Lexus Design 2012 for her work "weaving a home." Haddad stressed the importance of the Jordanian participation in such international competitions emphasizing Al-Markazia’s unyielding support for the ideas, talents and energies of the Jordanian youth.”

The Lexus exhibition at Milan Design Week will run from April 11 through April 17 at the Lexus Showroom.  The four finalists will produce prototypes of their designs under the mentorship of globally recognized creators from which the Grand Prix winner of the Lexus Design Award 2016 will be chosen.
