Air Arabia wins ‘Corporate Social Responsibility Award’ for the year 2012

As a further testimony to its sustainability and community upliftment efforts, Air Arabia, the first and largest low-cost carrier (LCC) in the Middle East and North Africa, has been awarded the “Corporate Social Responsibility Award” at the 2012 Aviation Business Awards that was held recently in Dubai.
Air Arabia won the award in the CSR category for its meaningful contribution to the creation of sustainable livelihoods under the ‘Charity Cloud initiative’ in rural communities. Under the programme, Charity Cloud schools and Clinics have been established in various countries such as Sudan, Sri Lanka, Yemen, India, and Nepal. Moreover, Charity Cloud Project has also planned social initiatives against Meningitis in Sudan, Autism in Turkey, initiatives against heart diseases in Yemen, breast cancer in Sudan and many more.

Air Arabia became one of the first companies from the region to introduce a sustainable CSR programme when it launched the “Charity Cloud” project in collaboration with Sharjah Charity International in 2005. The programme is aimed at raising funds for community development initiatives through on-board passenger donations. The fund collections are reviewed annually and invested in healthcare and education projects in several countries through a planned and sustainable CSR programme.
