Abu Dhabi Ports, the master developer, operator and manager of ports and Khalifa Industrial Zone (Kizad) in the Emirate, has announced that Kizad has been awarded ISO 9001:2015 quality certification by Lloyds Register Quality Assurance (LRQA). ISO 9001:2015 is the latest version of the world’s most popular quality management system standard.

This achievement demonstrates Kizad’s ability to offer products and services of consistently good quality. Apart from authenticating Kizad’s efficient and streamlined business processes, and adaptability to a changing world, this accolade also proves the organisation’s capability to satisfy its customers and provides a sound foundation for growth and sustained success.

“Kizad’s accomplishment is recognition of our continuous efforts to improve operational processes, make sure that risks are allayed, and achieve maximum customer satisfaction – the paramount objective of Abu Dhabi Ports. This will further enhance our capacity to compete in a global marketplace,” said Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, CEO of Abu Dhabi Ports.

Basem Obaid, General Manager – India, MEA & South East Europe at Lloyds Register Quality Assurance (LRQA), said: “Kizad of Abu Dhabi Ports is one of the first leading quality organisations in the UAE, even across the globe, to acquire transition of their business processes including the risk/opportunities management system to ISO 9001:2015 certificate in the shortest possible time. We are very pleased to be involved as their certification body right from the inception of Kizad,” he said.

Abu Dhabi Ports recently made a major strategic initiative to attain the ISO certification for the whole organisation. The company has set up the ISO Steering Committee to take the necessary steps for this purpose. ISO 9001:2015 certification for Kizad is the first milestone attained in this strategic initiative of the business process systems development project in line with internationally certified best practice standards. This is one of the many initiatives of Abu Dhabi Ports to achieve excellence across Abu Dhabi’s maritime industry, in line with the UAE’s efforts to become a global leader in maintaining the quality maritime infrastructure.
