Oman, UAE sign bilateral agreement to link electricity grid

The Sultanate of Oman and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) signed on Sunday a bilateral agreement to link the two countries on a common electricity grid.  

 

According to ONA, Dr. Khamis bin Mubarak al Alawi, Oman's Minister of Housing, Electricity and Water, signed the agreement for the Sultanate and Humaid bin Nasir al Owais, the UAE Minister of Electricity and Water, signed for his country.  

 

The agreement covers the linking of the two electricity networks on a bilateral grid in areas stretching from Al Ain in UAE to Wasit in the Sultanate on a voltage of 220kv, from Ghalela in UAE to Khasab on a voltage of 33kv, from Diba in UAE to Diba Al Baya also on a voltage of 33kv, from Qadfa in UAE to Madha on a voltage of 220kv or 132kv and from Muzairea in UAE to Al Rawda on a voltage of 33kv.  

 

In a statement after the signing agreement, Dr. Khamis bin Mubarak al Alawi, said the electricity link between the two countries was the beginning of linking electricity networks in AGCC states.  

 

Humaid bin Nasir al Owas, the UAE Minister of Electricity and Water, said the pact concluded efforts which began with the earlier signing of a MoU between the two countries. (menareport.com)
