Morocco loses some US$ 510 million each year due to water pollution, said director general of the national office for drinking water (ONEP), Ali Fassi Fihri.

Fihri, quoted by MAP, outlined that this amount represents 1.2 percent of Morocco’s GDP.

The official deplored that 2.4 billion inhabitants in the world do not have access to an adequate sanitation system, the majority of whom are from developing countries.
