ALBAWABA - Israeli Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi has voiced his determination to prevent billionaire Elon Musk from providing internet services to Gaza through his satellite-based communication system, Starlink.

Israel will utilize all available means to oppose Musk's decision, Karhi declared, expressing concerns that the Palestinian resistance group, Hamas, might exploit Starlink for its activities. Additionally, he confirmed that his office would sever any existing connections with Starlink.

These statements were made in the wake of Elon Musk's announcement that Starlink would extend its services to internationally recognized aid organizations in the Gaza Strip. This followed Israel's disruption of communication networks, leading to a complete blackout in the besieged enclave.

This situation unfolded against the backdrop of ongoing conflict in the region. Israel had been conducting airstrikes in response to attacks initiated by Hamas, including Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, a multi-pronged surprise attack involving rocket launches and infiltrations into Israel by land, sea, and air.

Tragically, at least 7,703 Palestinians, including 3,595 children, lost their lives in the Israeli attacks, while the death toll in Israel reached more than 1,400. Gaza's 2.3 million residents continue to endure severe shortages of food, water, and medicine due to Israel's blockade of the enclave. The humanitarian situation is dire, with only a few aid trucks managing to cross into Gaza since the opening of the Rafah crossing point the previous weekend.
