(MEBG)- ENI's presence in the United Arab Emirates dates back to the late 1960s. In the oil upstream sector, Agip carried out exploration activities in an area which was relinquished in 1971.
Engineering & Oilfield Services:
In the engineering and oilfield services sector, Saipem and Snamprogetti, in aj oint venture, carried out turnkey contracts for pumping stations along the 170 km Bab-Maqata-Taweelah Gas Pipeline in 1997.
Snamprogetti provided engineering services for a number of other projects including the Ruwais Refinery and Hydrocracking project (1982, 1985 respectively). the Umm Al-Nar Refinery Expansion (1993) and the Jarn Yaphour Field development project (1993).
In addition, Snamprogetti has been awarded two major turnkey lump contracts at the the Ruwais Refinery Expansion project for the construction of condensate processing units with associated downstream facilities and the Asab Gas Development Project.
Snamprogetti is carrying out the Sail Field Development Project (Phase 1) comprising pipelines and associated facilities. Moreover, the company was recently awarded a turnkey contract for flow lines and trunk lines pertaining the OGD 2 gas gathering system and trunk lines project
