Egyptian Premiere League outfits Zamalek and Ismaily were banned from registering new players during the current winter transfer window due to their ongoing financial disputes with some former players, the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) announced on Saturday.

Rivals Masry, Ittihad of Alexandria, Dakhlya and El-Entag El-Harby have also been hit with the same ban by the Egyptian football governing body.

Ex-Zamalek duo Ahmed Hassan and Arafaa El-Sayed have lodged official complaints against the Cairo giants' management for not receiving their late financial dues.

Zamalek lie third at the Egyptian League table with 34 points, 11 behind leaders and rivals Ahly, who played two matches more. Ismaily comes ninth with 22 points, while Masry is at the fourth place with 34 points
