Argentina will look to be the favorites to advance on the day as Lionel Messi has proven he is out to make sure his nation are a major factor in this summer's competition having been their hero several times in the group stages.

However, Switzerland have a squad of exciting players that have no desire to roll over and allow Messi and company just walk to the quarterfinals and despite their frustrating 2-5 loss to France in the group stages where everything seemed to go against them, the Swiss are exciting to watch.

Argentina have at times struggled with their creative spark and if they do so and Switzerland comes out on their game it could be a very interesting match from the opening whistle.

Sergio Aguero remains an injury absentee for his nation, much like he unfortunately did for Manchester City this past season and his injury worries continue to be more and more prominent.

Switzerland have no injury concerns or suspension worries and will be looking to make a run at Argentina with their young strike force leading the way.

Argentina are expected to pull out all the attacking stops and start their most powerful side in the absence of Aguero with Messi, Gonzalo Higuain and Ezequiel Lavezzi on the front line.

Argentina Starting XI: Romero: Zabaleta, Garay, Fernandez, Rojo; Gago, Mascherano, Maria; Messi, Higuain, Lavezzi.

Switzerland Starting XI: Benaglio: Lichtsteiner, Schar, Djourou, Rodriguez; Behrami, Inler; Xhaka, Shaqiri, Mehmedi; Drmic.
