Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk is ready to negotiate the club over a new deal, according to transfer expert Nicolo Schira.
The Dutch defender will become a free agent in June, unless he commits to a new contract.
He is now waiting for the Reds to begin talks.
Schira said, as quoted by Tribal Football: "Liverpool are ready to open talks to try to extend Virgil Van Dijk’s contract. The Dutch center-back asks a new deal until 2027."
The 33-year-old moved to Liverpool for €84.65 million from Southampton in 2018, and went on to help the team clinch the Champions League title a year later.
He has made 277 appearances since his arrival across all competitions, with 24 goals and 12 assists to his name.
