As excitement builds for the all-English Europa League final between Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, UEFA has issued a strong warning to fans about buying tickets from unofficial sources.
The final, scheduled for Wednesday in Bilbao, has seen a surge in demand, with thousands of fans expected to travel, many without confirmed tickets.
Tickets from unauthorised sellers may be cancelled
In an official statement released on Monday, UEFA reminded supporters that tickets purchased on the secondary market including websites, resellers, agencies, or street touts may be cancelled at any time. Those holding such tickets could be denied entry or removed from the stadium.
UEFA stated: “In view of the upcoming UEFA club competition finals, UEFA warns fans not to purchase tickets on the secondary market, from unauthorised third parties, websites, agencies, or from touts.
Such tickets may be cancelled by UEFA at any time, and fans are likely to be refused entry or be ejected from the stadium. In addition, fans may not receive the tickets they purchased.”
Digital-only tickets through official UEFA app
To further reduce fraud, UEFA confirmed that all Europa League final tickets are 100% digital and will only be available through the UEFA Mobile Tickets App.
This app includes security features designed to combat counterfeiting and protect fans, ensuring a secure mobile-only ticketing experience.
Each club receives 15,000 official tickets
Manchester United and Tottenham have each been allocated 15,000 tickets for the final. However, thousands of additional fans are expected to travel in hopes of buying tickets on-site or through alternative means, a move UEFA strongly discourages.
Fans who ignore these warnings could risk missing out on what promises to be a memorable showdown between two Premier League giants.
