Chelsea striker Fernando Torres has pledged to stay on at his club until at least 2016 following speculations that he might return to his boyhood club Atletico Madrid in the summer.
The Spanish player, nicknamed El Nino, has struggled to live up to his British-record of 50 million-pound price tag since joining from Liverpool in January 2011, The Sun reports.
However, Torres, who has managed 29 goals in 116 appearances in just over two years at Stamford Bridge, insisted that he wants to see out his Blues contract and prove owner Roman Abramovich that he was correct to make him the most expensive signing in British football history.
Torres further said that although he is grateful to his former club Atletico for giving him a learning experience, he added that he has three more years on his contract at Chelsea and will take that time to prove himself to others before returning home.
Torres further said that returning to Atletico right now is not an option. (ANI)
