Brazil boss Luiz Felipe Scolari has revealed it hurt him after snubbing England job in 2006, saying he would like to have a crack with the Three Lions in future.
The World Cup winning coach was offered the chance to succeed Sven Goran Eriksson by the FA in 2006 but stalled because he was already in charge of Portugal, the Daily Mirror reports.
Scolari, who knocked England out of three successive tournaments, left the door open in the future as he singled out Jack Wilshere and Tom Cleverley as big stars of the future ahead of Wednesday's Wembley friendly between the two nations, the paper said.
Scolari said it hurts him a lot whenever he recalls snubbing chance to manage England national team.
Scolari added that he was invited to be national coach of England and when they sat together he still had a contract with Portugal national team and he was not willing to break that contract, adding it was his duty to fulfill that contract.
He further said imagine in 2006 what would have happened if he and Brazil played together, adding he would have loved to be manager of the England national team, as its a wonderful national team.
Scolari said England has exciting young players, a good future with players like Wilshere and Cleverley and, who knows, you never know what might happen one day. (ANI)
