Manchester City custodian Joe Hart has been branded the world's best goalkeeper by England teammate Wayne Rooney after his stunning performance against German Champions Borussia Dortmund in their Champions League clash at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday.
Even City boss Roberto Mancini thanked Hart for keeping City's European hopes alive after yet another shambolic display.
Hart defied Dortmund with a string of brilliant saves before Mario Balotelli snatched a 1-1 draw with a controversial last-minute penalty, and this prompted Rooney to tweet his praises.
"Have to say Joe Hart has been incredible. For me best keeper in the world," the Daily Mirror quoted Rooney's tweet, as saying.
Hart claimed he couldn't remember having to make more saves in a game, but insisted the draw keeps City in contention for the knockout stages next year.
"It would have been nice to win, but we have come out of the game alive. I hope this result is important. I hope it's not a wasted effort. I hope our effort we have put into this Champions League group is not wasted," Hart said.
"Off the top of my head, I can't remember making more saves in a game for City and I thought Borussia Dortmund were different class," he added. (ANI)
