Lack of cover prompted Arsenal to refuse bid
Arsenal's Mesut Ozil was the subject of a last-minute bid by a club in the Middle East, reports the Mirror.
A club in Qatar registered its interest in signing Ozil, who is on the fringes of the Gunners' plans.
But Arsenal were reluctantly forced to reject the bid, as a deadline-day sale would have afforded no time to identify a replacement for the former Germany international.
