Oman captain Ali Al-Habsi said his team is yearning for a victory against Turkmenistan at home after the sultanate team's 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign got off to a winning start with a 2-1 away win against India in June.

“The win in India was fantastic. The scoreline doesn't matter early into the qualifying campaign. What is important is that we have three points,” Habsi said.

“A lot of people said that we missed a lot of scoring chances during our match against India. But I was satisfied with the result - three points is what finally counts.”

The Oman and Reading keeper said, “We need to win this home match, it is crucial. We need to focus only on tomorrow's game as of now. Only after the final whistle, we will think about the Guam match.

“We know that there will be very short time for recovery for the next game as we will have to take a long,

20-hour flight to Guam. But I have faith in our medical and fitness teams to help us.”
