Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho has claimed that he turned down the chance to coach England on two separate occasions.

The Portuguese boss who took over at Fenerbahce a couple of months ago explained why working with national teams has never been one of his main goals.

The former Roma boss tod HT Spor, as quoted by Goal: "I had national team opportunities in the past but I always turned them down.

"I received an offer from England twice, but I didn't accept it. It's not a job that will make me happy. One or two matches a month, travelling to watch players, waiting for tournaments"

"I have a lot of energy to spend right now. Maybe one day when I'm old and tired, but not today."

Mourinho decided to accept Fenerbache's proposal and put pen to paper on a two-year deal in July, after getting the sack at Roma in January.
