Manchester City is reportedly ready to break the British transfer record with a 52 million-pound raid for Atletico Madrid's striker Radamel Falcao.

Falcao is believed to have a 60 million euro get-out clause in his Atletico deal and, with Real Madrid refusing to meet that valuation, City believe they can beat off competition from Chelsea to land the hottest frontman in world football, the Mirror reports.

According to the paper, Falcao has been linked up with Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho at the Etihad Stadium, with Morinho set to leave the Bernabeu in the summer and City believed to be his most likely destination.

Mourinho and Falcao are represented by agent Jorge Mendes and could both end up at City - although no definite decision has yet been made on the future of manager Roberto Mancini, the paper added. (ANI)
