Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has made a concerning admission following his team’s 2-2 draw against Everton, confessing that he has no clear solution to their ongoing inconsistency.
The Red Devils endured a disastrous first half, conceding twice to the Toffees while lacking any real attacking intent. They failed to register a single shot on target until the 70th minute when captain Bruno Fernandes stepped up with a stunning free-kick to spark a late comeback. The Portuguese midfielder later set up Manuel Ugarte for a dramatic equalizer with just ten minutes remaining.
Despite the late fightback, United were fortunate to escape with a point after referee Andy Madley controversially overturned an Everton penalty decision in stoppage time. However, the draw did little to improve their league position, as Amorim’s side remains stuck in 15th place in the Premier League, having failed to win any of their last four games.
Amorim: “I Have No Idea How to Restore Consistency”
Speaking after the match, Amorim made a brutally honest admission about United’s ongoing struggles: "I don’t know what I need to do to bring more consistency. If I knew, I would have changed it already," he stated.
"We need to focus on each game individually and apply everything we work on during the week. If we do that, we’ll be closer to winning games, as we saw in the second half. Right now, our priority is simply surviving this season before looking ahead. There are too many problems."
Ferdinand Slams United’s Lack of Fight
Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand did not hold back in his post-match analysis, criticizing the team’s poor first-half display. "I questioned this team’s desire and fight, but goals change games. The issue is, they can’t keep doing this. They have to start games with intensity," Ferdinand told TNT Sports.
He went on to say:
"I don’t think I’ve ever seen a United side this bad. It’s embarrassing in every aspect. Yes, quality matters, but the one thing that’s unforgivable is a lack of fight and urgency. You have to press, track back, and battle for every ball. Everton showed more of that than United, and that’s unacceptable."
