England boss Roy Hodgson has said his players need to keep possession during football matches and should attack ruthlessly to achieve results.

After a lame Euro 2012 following a disastrous 2010 World Cup, Hodgson has ordered a complete change in the style of England's play.

"England must maintain possession of the ball better. England must also show we are capable of seizing the initiative and dominating games in tournaments, rather than holding out against opponents and hitting on the counter-attack," the Daily Express quoted Hodgson, as saying.

"In the matches since the Euros, particularly the friendly against Italy and in our World Cup qualifier against Moldova, we've already demonstrated how we would like our national team football philosophy to be," he added.

"The coaching staff and I are fully focused on how we intend to go forward and improve our play," he said. (ANI)
