The HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) is back, and this time the games are taking place across the UAE. PSL is a Twenty20 cricket league in which players from international teams like Australia, West Indies and more are mixed and matched to create six groups: Islamabad United, Karachi Kings, Peshawar Zalmi, Quetta Gladiators, Multan Sultans and Lahore Qalandars. Over the course of the tournament, each team will battle it out on the pitch until the victors rise to claim the winner’s title.
The first match of the season takes place on 14 February at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, between Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars. To kick off the occasion with the grandeur and energy it deserves, not one but two star power acts have been scheduled.
First in the line-up – Mr. Worldwide, aka Pitbull. The artist behind chart-topping hits like ‘Give Me Everything’ and ‘I Know You Want Me’ is making his way to Dubai to get the ball rolling for this year’s PSL. He’s all set to perform his repertoire of dance anthems that have made it to Billboard’s Hot 100s on numerous occasions, so be prepared to dance your way into a cricket haze.
And for those that missed them in January, Pakistan’s Sufi-rock legend Junoon is returning alongside the American rapper for the grand opening ceremony. Ali Azmet, Salman Ahmad and Brian O’Connell are reuniting for what promises to be a riveting performance featuring the band’s all-time classics, from ‘Jazba-e-Junoon’ to ‘Ni Heeray.’
Tickets for the match are already on sale, so get yours now to see a multicultural display of musical might that matches the thrilling cricket action at this year’s PSL.
