French president-elect Emmanuel Macron has confirmed his backing for the Paris bid for the 2024 Olympics and will next week meet evaluating officials.
Macron, who takes office on Sunday, spoke to International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Thomas Bach by telephone on Thursday to reiterate his support for the bid, Macron's campaign team En Marche! said in a statement on Friday.
An IOC inspection team will be in Paris from Sunday for three days to assess the city's bid after paying a similar visit to Los Angeles, the only other candidate to host the 2024 Games.
