Australia made a perfect start to their FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign after securing a 2-0 victory over Turkey in the group stage.

As a matter of fact, this victory marks the first time the Socceroos have won their opening match since 2006.

Paul Okon-Engstler provided the assist for Irankunda, who scored the opening goal in the 27th minute, the second goal came in the 75th minute by Connor Metcalfe with a long shot into the bottom right corner.
